Directed by Elia Kazan.
The film takes place during the starting of World War I, in the central California coastal towns of Monterey and Salinas. Cal and Aron are the sons of a modestly successful farmer, Adam Trask. Cal feels that his father cares only about his brother and always compares him to his brother Aron, who seems ideal every day. Cal seeks in different ways to attract the attention and love of his father.
Based on the novel by John Steinbeck.
