The laboratory results essentially confirmed our hypothesis that this outbreak was due to Staphylococcus aureus and indicated that turkey was the source of this agent. As both the isolate from kitchen worker B (who had scars from recent sores on her hands) and the turkey were nontypable, we cannot say with certainty that worker B was the source. However, this is the most likely scenario we were able to develop and is consistent with reports in the literature.
