Studies on the geographical distribution of house infestation by Rhodnius prolixus and Triatoma dimidiata and others like T. infestans and T. gerstaeckeri are being conducted to allow control programs to focus activities on particular geographical areas. Other studies are looking at the mobility and genetics of non-domiciliated triatomines to help evaluate efficacy of insecticides, and vector behavior to permit control of domiciliary insects, while evaluating the risks. |
