Raquel Diaz-Sprague, PharmD MS MLHR, is an Adjunct Instructor at the Ohio
State University, College of Medicine & Public Health and President of
Technical Support Inc., a Public Relations/Communications firm. She teaches
Medical Communication with Latino Patients and conducts surveys and research
on Latino/a communication and health issues.
She is the Founding director of La Clinica Latina, a free clinic run
entirely by volunteers. She is also the Executive Director of the
Association for Women in Science of Central Ohio and a national
correspondent for AWIS Magazine, the quarterly publication of the
Association for Women in Science, based in Washington, DC. Since 1999, she
directs the Women in Science Day program. The annual program hosts 7th to
10th grade girls selected by their teachers from a couple of dozen Central
Ohio schools. The girls participate in science-based workshops and
activities led by women faculty in science and engineering at Ohio State
University. Diaz-Sprague has received numerous awards and honors, including
a Fulbright Fellowship, "Outstanding Woman in Science" and "Making a
Difference" Award from the State Government, the Health Hero Award from the
University of Illinois at Chicago, and was inducted into the Ohio Women's
Hall of Fame in 1991. |
