On this slide Native land is marked in red. European immigration began on the east coast over two hundred years ago and forced tribes westward many tribes were annihilated.   Today most Tribes are located in the western part of the U.S.

There are over 550 federally recognized Tribes in the U.S., with a combined population of approximately 2.2 million.  Many people believe the battle over land between the U.S and Tribes ended decades ago.   However, Tribes remain in legal battle with state’s and the U.S. governments.
