The learning
objectives for this lecture are straightforward. You should be able to compare and
contrast the concepts of health, illness and disease, and analyze each of these concepts
from a number of different dimensions. You must recognize and describe epidemiological transitions. Finally, you need to be able to analyse factors that might link environmental and medical outcomes. This is a lot of “stuff” to cover. It isn’t possible to address it all in a one hour lecture. These notes therefore supplement, and provide a background to what will be presented in the lecture. You are strongly encouraged to read and think about these notes in advance of the lecture itself. |
