This lecture is organized by the BA Center for Coptic Studies, and it will be delivered by Dr. Khaled Gharib, Professor and Head of the Greek and Roman Antiquities Department at the Faculty of Archeology, Cairo University.
The lecture deals with the origin of the Egyptian calendar, which dates back to about 10,000 years BCE, and the ancient Egyptian months of the year. It also explains the most important developments that happened to the Egyptian calendar until it came into use by the Egyptian Church.
The lecture will he held within the framework of the Center for Coptic Studies Cultural Program in Alexandria and one of the cultural programs and events organized by the Center in Cairo and Alexandria, where specialists in all branches of Coptic studies are invited to deliver their lectures.
