Hellenistic Masters: (Eighth Cycle - First Semester) - Pottery and the Miniature Arts in the Hellenistic World

This course aims at surveying all these novelties in pottery-making in different Hellenistic kingdoms. An outline of other minor arts of the Hellenistic period will be included such as terracotta figurines, bronze casting, glass, gems, cameos and mosaics. Students should develop the ability to follow up the progress in different sorts of artistic productions of the Hellenistic period. They should also be able to distinguish between pieces from different centers of the Hellenistic world, as well as acquire interpretation and archaeological dating skills.
