The Planetarium Science Center, an affiliate to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, presents to its audience a lecture by Mr. Ayman Ibrahim on the New Solar System.
On 24 August 2006, The International Astronomical Union held a meeting in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. During the meeting, scientists from all over the world, settled on a new definition for the word “planet”. With that new definition, the planet Pluto, the ninth planet, was discarded from the old solar system. It has been added to a new set of planets called the “Dwarf Planets” which comprises small celestial bodies in the Solar System.
