New BA Friends Association in Morocco

A new Friends Association of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina was recently established in Morocco. The general meeting for announcing the new Association, which was held at the Faculty of Arts, Rabat, Morocco, was attended by 35 founder members and an executive board was elected.
Dr. Abbas Al-Girary, Consultant to H.R.H. King Mohamed the Sixth, was appointed Honorary President of the Association and the well-known Author and Lawyer, Mr. Bahaa El-Din Al-Tod was appointed President of the Association. The Executive Board also appointed Dr. Nagat El-Meriny Vice President, Dr. Hassan El-Bahrawy Secretary-General, Dr. Ayashy Al-Yemlahy Treasurer, Dr. Said Bin Said Al-Alawy, Mr. Mohnamed Abou Yehia, Mr. Naguib Khadary, Dr. Rokaya Belmakadam and Dr. Soad Al-Tod as Consultants to the Association.
The new Friends Association aims at enhancing the cultural ties and will contribute to supporting the cultural cooperation between Egypt and Morocco through the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, being an international beacon of Arab and human culture. It also aims at creating new channels of cultural interaction and dialogue with the Library through the thinkers and intelligentsias in both countries.
The importance of this new Association lies in the fact that it is the first Arab Association among the other 19 International and Egyptian Friends Associations of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The Friends Association in Morocco will contribute to promote the cultural activities of the Library to the Moroccan people and will also set a program to support the role of the Library, on both Arab and international levels.
