The BA Alexandria Book Fair holds a Seminar on Jerusalem in Arabic Novels

Alexandria— On the occasion of choosing Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as the Capital of Arab Culture 2009, the Seventh Alexandria International Book Fair, held between 19 February and 4 March 2009, will host Novelists Walid Askalan and Bushra Abu Sharar from Palestine in a seminar entitled “Jerusalem in Arabic Novels”. Other seminars will also be organized during the activities of the Fair hosting a number of eminent Arab writers.
The Seminar will deal with the history of this Holy city and its significance to believers in the three monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Jerusalem was the setting of events narrated in the Holy Books. It encompasses monuments and traces of the history of the three religions and their conflicts. The city also has its own identity bestowed upon to all Arabs.
The Seminar will be held on Tuesday, 24 February 2009.
