The Global Economic Crisis in a Conference at the BA

Alexandria—The BA Depository Library is holding a Conference entitled “The Repercussions of the Global Economic Crisis on Trade and Investment Opportunities” on 18 and 19 February 2009. The Conference is organized by the Egyptian Fruit Development Association (EFDA) in cooperation with the World Bank Public Information Center (PIC) in the BA and under the auspices of M.G. Adel Labib, Governor of Alexandria; H.E. Dr. Ali Mousselhi, Minister of Social Solidarity; and H.E. Eng. Rashed M. Rashed, Minister of Trade and Industry.
The Conference aims at considering ways to limit the effects of the economic and financial crisis on Egyptian economy; recommending a set of regulations and principles to reform the Egyptian financial and economic systems and to encourage investments; proposing economic policies to protect the national economy from such crisis; and investigating other models to overcome its consequences.
The Conference will discuss a number of themes: the measures taken by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to limit the effects of the economic and financial crisis; the impact of the crisis on different trade sectors; investigating potential merits and demerits of the situation on Egyptian trade and industry; the social dimensions of the crisis and its direct impact on the disadvantaged classes; among others.
The Conference will be held at the BACC Multipurpose Room.
