Launching of the Book Italy in Alexandria at the BA

Alexandria—The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex-Med) is organizing a launch of the book Italy in Alexandria: Influences on the Built Environment, by Dr. Mohamed Awad, Director of Alex-Med, on Friday, 20 February 2009.
The book focuses on the history of the Italian community in Alexandria. Constituting approximately 25% of the European population in Alexandria around 1897, the Italians were the first to introduce modernity to the Alexandrian architecture. Dr. Awad is the Director of the BA Alex-Med and the Founder of the Alexandria Preservation Trust. He is a historian of architecture, a practicing architect, a conservationist and a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University.
The Book Launch will take place at 7:00 pm at the BACC Lectures Hall.
