Alexandria—The BA Depository Library- the World Bank Public Information Center (PIC), in cooperation with the Youth Employment Summit (YES) Egypt, organizes the Alexandria International Model United Nations (AIMUN) 2009.
In its fifth round, AIMUN simulates the G20 (Group of Twenty) Summit. The simulation enables participants to deal with international essential cases like the climate change, the financial crisis, the safeguard against the H1N1 and against the spread of weapons of mass destruction.
Simulation models are non-formal educational tools that aim for developing awareness, skills and abilities of young people.
The idea is to put the participants in an environment that is almost similar to the decision making environment in the United Nations’ different organs. They could thus discuss the most challenging topics from the decision makers’ point of view.
A series of workshops are held to prepare delegates concerning issues related to the model’s topic, as well as soft skills such as presentation, negotiation and research skills.
Training sessions take place throughout July and August. The final Conference is held from 18 to 20 August 2009.
