The World Sight Day at the BA

Alexandria—The BA hosts a Ceremony celebrating the World Sight Day (WSD) on 8 October 2009. The World Sight Day is an international day of awareness, held annually on the second Thursday of October, to focus attention on the global issue of avoiding blindness and visual impairment, and to educate target audiences about blindness prevention.
The WSD is coordinated by the World Health Organization (WHO), and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), and public and private partners, under the VISION 2020 Global Initiative, “the Right to Sight”, a global effort to prevent blindness by 2020. The theme of WSD 2009 is “Gender and Eye Health: Equal Access to Care”.
