Hayat Galilei in a Play Reading at the BA

Alexandria—The Reference Services Unit is holding its monthly play reading in Arabic on Wednesday, 30 September 2009. Participants will read Hayat Galilei (Life of Galilei) by Bertolt Brecht.
The play sketches the life of Italian Astronomer Galileo Galilei. Using an improved telescope, Galileo collected evidence of heliocentrism, that the sun is the center of the universe, as such championing Copernicanism and contradicting the geocentric view that the Earth is at the centre of the universe, which was widely supported by the Church. The reading is held on the occasion of the International Year of Astronomy 2009.
The session starts at 16:00 hrs. at the BA Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library entrance.
