Alexandria— The BA is organizing the Seventh Annual Meeting of the Arab Reform Forum, during the period from 1 to 3 March 2010, entitled: “A New World is Shaping… What is the Role of the Arabs?”. This year, the Arab Reform Forum is focusing on presenting the visions and viewpoints of the participants on the political, economic, cultural and social future of the Arab region, in light of the changes witnessed by the world at large.

The Seventh Meeting is part of the BA efforts to disseminate awareness on the most important issues which have affected the Arab world during the past six years, on both regional and international levels, including conflicts and interactions. The Meeting also attempts to draw lessons from these experiences and build a better future for the Arab world.

This Meeting comes in line with the BA’s aim to become a center for free dialogue, and in continuation of the series of conferences organized by the BA, starting with the First Conference for Arab Reform from which the Alexandria Declaration emerged in March 2004. This conference also resulted in the establishment of the Arab Reform Forum which aims to present a comprehensive vision on Arab reform and establish a network of organizations interested in reform issues in the Arab world.

Within the framework of the Arab Reform Forum activities, five annual conferences were held since 2005, addressing “Successful Models of Civil Society Organizations”, “Challenges and Concerns Facing the Civil Society”, “Human Rights, Women and Development”, “Media, Democracy, and Social Responsibility” and “The Arab World: Present and Future”. Representatives from most Arab countries participated in these conferences to discuss the best practices and present the best achievements throughout the world.
