New Excavations in Kom El Dekkah Symposium

The BA Calligraphy Center, in cooperation with the Supreme Council of Antiquities, is organizing a symposium on 8 April 2010, on the new excavations in Kom El Dekkah, Alexandria.
These excavations led to the discovery of the Bubastion Temple dedicated to the ancient Egyptian goddess Bastet, depicted as a cat. The temple dates back to the reign of Queen Berenice at the beginning of the Ptolemaic period in Egypt. It was used up to the end of the 2nd century AD. This discovery is considered to be one of the most important archaeological discoveries not only in Alexandria but also in Egypt during the last few years, as the establishment of this temple is related to the establishment of the Ptolemaic capital itself.
The Symposium starts at 10:30 am at the BACC Small Theater, and is open for public.
