Le Jeu de l’Amour et du Hasard in a Play Reading at the BA

The Reference Services Unit is holding its play reading, for the first time in French on Wednesday, 7 April 2010. Participants will read Le Jeu de l’Amour et du Hasard (The Game of Love and Chance) by Pierre Carlet de Marivaux.
Monsieur Orgon hopes his daughter, Silvia, gets married to Dorante, the son of his best friend. Not wanting to marry someone she does not really know, Silvia asks her servant, Lisette, to switch roles with her when Dorante comes to propose. Dorante had the same idea and disguised himself as a servant too. When Monsieur Orgon knows about the young peoples’ plans, he decides to leave the issue to the game of love and chance.
The session starts at 16:00 hrs. at the BA Arts and Multimedia Library. Participants should register their names at the General Information Desk at the Library entrance.
