Inspired by the election of Alexandria as the Capital of Arab tourism for the year 2010, several institutions will celebrate the heritage of Alexandria during the “Alexandrian Heritage Days” from 24 to 28 September 2010.
Various events are offered to the public to promote the history and the cosmopolitism of Alexandria. The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Ale-Med), in cooperation with the Centre d'Etudes Alexandrines (CEAlex) holds on Sunday, 26 September 2010, a seminar entitled “Heritage in Danger”. The event hosts Dr. Mohamed Awad, Dr. Abbas Yehia, Dr. Ibrahim Darwish, Mr. Harry Tzalas and Dr. Emad Khalil.
The Young People’s Library will also organize a ceremony on the same day featuring a choir singing songs by Sayed Darwish and Karem Mahmoud. The event will include screening of films produced by youth during a previously held workshop for heritage places in Alexandria.
