Consul General of Lebanon Visits the BA

Dr. Mostafa el Feki, Director of the BA, received Osama Khashab, Consul General of Lebanon and head of the consular corps in Alexandria, at the BA on Tuesday, 1 August. The meeting revolved around Egyptian-Lebanese relations and the strong cooperation between the BA and the Consulate General of Lebanon in Alexandria.
Dr. el Feki emphasized that the Consulate General of Lebanon is one of the key partners of the BA, praising the efforts it dedicates to support the Library’s cultural initiatives. He also commended the consulate’s support of the BA Francophone Library and its lucrative cooperation in organizing various artistic events, seminars, and concerts, such as the Majida El Roumi concert in 2014.
General Consul Khashab affirmed that during the upcoming period, the BA and the Consulate General of Lebanon will cooperatively work on various new initiatives and cultural and artistic projects that target Alexandrians in particular and aim to benefit youth in general.
The meeting was held as part of Dr. el Feki’s plan to convene with several intellectuals, academics, distinguished political figures, media personnel, youths, and civil work leaders to listen to their opinions and suggestions concerning the future of the BA.
The BA Director also honored General Consul Khashab in a ceremony that was attended by several members of the BA Management. The farewell ceremony was held as the General Consul’s five-year mission had come to an end.
During the ceremony, Dr. el Feki praised the excellent relations between the BA and the Lebanese Mission. Consul General Osama Khashab thanked the Director of the BA and all its employees, considering that the BA is a center for the dissemination of science, culture, and enlightenment. He also expressed his sincere appreciation for Dr. el Feki’s support of the publication of the book Lebanon through Alexandrian Eyes.
