Dr. Elfeki and Dr. Mohamed Sultan Inaugurate “Description of ِAlexandria” Exhibition

Dr. Mostafa ELFeki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Dr. Mohamed Sultan, Governor of Alexandria, inaugurated the “Description of ِAlexandria” Exhibition. The exhibition presents a number of items, unveiled for the very first time, that depict Alexandria during the 18th century, including a rare manuscript, written by a Belgian artist, that was discovered among the belongings of King Farouk of Egypt and was acquired by the BA after researcher Hossam Abdel Baset had examined it.
Dr. ElFeki affirmed that the aforementioned rare manuscript is quite significant and should be cherished by Egyptians, including researchers and those interested in culture and civilization. He stressed the importance of availing these rare manuscripts to those interested in viewing them.
Dr. Sultan stated that these rare manuscripts and documents are a grand new addition to the various treasures of the BA that represent the Library’s ancient origins and its constant search for originality. He noted that this unveiling coincides with the celebrations of the city’s national day.
