At the Opening of the Francophone Arts and Cultures Conference, Dr. Moustafa Elfeki: France is the Stronghold of Culture in Our Contemporary World

Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, together with the French Ambassador to Egypt, Stéphane Romatet, and Ambassador Ibrahim El-Khouly, Head of the Francophone Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, inaugurated the “Francophone Arts and Cultures: Contribution to Modernity” Conference, on 6 March 2019.

Dr. Elfeki stated that the BA is committed to celebrating the International Francophonie Day each year through the BA Center of Francophone Activities (CAF), stressing his interest in the Francophone culture, as well as his appreciation and respect for the people and institutions that support it. He also noted that France is the stronghold of culture in the contemporary world, and that the French people are the guardians of the Latin culture. Moreover, he mentioned that Egypt’s celebration of the Francophone culture has its deep historical roots that go back to the French Expedition and its significant cultural impact on life in Egypt, which resulted into the landmark publication of the Description de l'Égypte.

Ambassador Stéphane Romatet expressed his delight at being in Alexandria, especially at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which is a melting pot for all sciences, knowledge and cultures of the world. He also praised the role of the BA Center of Francophone Activities in supporting the Francophone culture in Egypt.
