The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized a webinar entitled “The Treasures of Coptic Medieval Art from the Monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul”, delivered by Dr. Elizabeth Bolman, Professor of Coptic Arts, Case Western Reserve University, USA.

The lecture highlighted the importance of establishing this important region, the architectural planning of each monastery, and the areas that reflected the most remarkable artistic scenes, in which the restoration team had worked. It also discussed the restoration phases of the Monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul, led and supervised by Dr. Bolman, as well as the process of saving a large collection of Coptic artistic treasures that provided researchers and scholars with valuable information on this early historical period.

Dr. Elizabeth Bolman praised the vital role played by the Egyptian state, namely the Ministry of Antiquities, in assisting the restoration team, as well as that of the monks who helped the team with the restoration, documentation, and research processes.
