The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with TechnoFuture Egypt, is organizing the FIRST® LEGO® League Explore for the eighteenth consecutive year in Egypt, for children aged 6 – 10, from 29 – 31 January 2023.

More than 2,400 children will compete in this year’s tournament, representing 400 teams from 18 Egyptian governorates, with the participation of around 65 judges for the evaluation of projects, and more than 160 volunteers for the organization of the event.

The theme of this year's competition is "Clean, Sustainable and Green Energy Sources", as the consequences of climate change represent the most prominent international issue, given the threats that these changes pose to the planet and the future of humanity.

Throughout the training, students were able to learn the steps of engineering design and discovered plenty of information about energy sources and new ideas for their use, as well as the problems of energy use in society and how to solve them. They also conducted scientific research on the theme of this year's competition, and designed and built a mobile LEGO Model.

The winning local teams can qualify to represent their country at the FIRST LEGO World Festival, which will be held in April 2023 in the US. Teams from around the world will compete for valuable prizes and scholarships.

Additionally, any team participating in the local championship can get the opportunity to take part in the Arab Robotics Championship, which will be held in Qatar in May 2023, as well as the FIRST LEGO League Open Championships taking place in Europe, Africa, East Asia, and Australia.
