The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is preparing to launch the 18th edition of its annual international Book Fair on Wednesday, 12 July 2023, which runs until 26 July 2023. This year’s edition is held in cooperation with the General Egyptian Book Organization and the Egyptian and Arab Publishers Association.
Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, stated that this year's Fair will include 70 Egyptian and Arab publishing houses, together with an integrated cultural program that will be held on its sidelines, featuring a wide variety of more than 100 events, ranging from seminars to lectures, workshops, and conferences. The events will focus on topics such as youth, women, children, media, history and heritage, poetry, literature, writing, technology, art, and human development. In addition, the Fair will discuss a number of local and international issues, such as education development, artificial intelligence and its applications, women's issues, and television drama. The cultural program will also offer an important set of workshops for teaching hieroglyphics, Arabic calligraphy, creative translation and academic writing, documentary film production, and other creative writing workshops. The Book Fair will witness the participation of a large and distinguished group of writers, artists, media professionals, poets, and other prominent figures.
The cultural program will also present a series of interactive seminars under the title "Alexandrian Creativity Has Many Faces", to discuss the works of leading Alexandrian intellectuals.
The Fair’s activities will start on Thursday, 13 July, at 12:00 pm, with an inaugural symposium.
