The Bibliotheca Alexandrina held a lecture, on Wednesday, 19 July 2023, entitled "Identity and Protecting the Future", presented by the writer and thinker Ms. Nashwa Al-Houfy, as part of the events of the eighteenth round of the BA International Book Fair.
Ms. Nashwa Al-Houfy began her speech with a background of her career, articles, honors, and the most important meetings she held with Dr. Ahmed Zewail, Dr. Magdi Yacoub, Pope Tawadros and others.
She then discussed the Egyptian identity and pointed out that the Egyptian civilization is studied abroad and is the only civilization that is based on economy, creativity and ethics.
She also outlined all the difficulties that Egypt has gone through since ancient times, and how it faced them, and highlighted the buildings owned by Egypt, which represent the Egyptian identity over the centuries, such as the mosques of Ibn Tulun, Al-Azhar and Sultan Hassan, as well as Al-Moez Street and the Citadel of Salah Al-Din.
