The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, and delivered by Major General Dr. Samir Farag, and moderated by Mr. Ahmed El-Sersawy, journalist and managing editor of Akhbar Al-Yom newspaper.
Mr. Ahmed El-Sersawy said that the upcoming presidential elections are the most important in Egypt's modern history as they occur under critical local, regional and international circumstances, pointing out that the Egyptian state faced a major crisis after 25 January 2011, and that this period had lasted until 2014.
For his part, Major General Samir Farag stated that there are strategic threats facing Egypt from all its borders, as he pointed to the importance of educating the new generation about the dangers surrounding Egypt.
He also addressed the state of the Arab region and the conflicts in certain countries and their repercussions on the Egyptian state, noting that Egypt is currently under severe pressure.
Additionally, Dr. Ahmed Zayed stressed the importance of participating in the presidential elections since democracy comes through practice and participation through the ballot box. He also noted that the Egyptian state's position on the surrounding crises was clear and honorable, especially with regard to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
