"Documentation Prospects in the Age of AI" in a Seminar at the BA

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina held today a seminar entitled "Prospects of Documentation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence", in cooperation with the Information and Decision Support Center. It is the second in a series of seminars organized by the Strategic Documents Center at the Information and Decision Support Center and the BA Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT). The seminars aim to shed light on the knowledge content at documentation centers, and the importance of using artificial intelligence applications in managing this content and providing it to researchers and decision-makers.

In a speech delivered on behalf of Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, Dr. Ayman Soliman, Director of the BA Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT),   pointed out that, since its inauguration in the modern age, the BA has been committed to preserving and maintaining the Egyptian heritage and identity, and to developing tools that keep pace with the successive development of information technology.

In her speech, Dr. Abeer Sobhi, Director General of the Strategic Documents Center, spoke on behalf of Mr. Osama El-Gohary, Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Information and Decision Support Center, and referred to the role of the Strategic Documents Center and its work in maximizing the use of documented content through the adaptation of artificial intelligence technologies.

Dr. Tarek Hawas, Head of the Design and Art Direction Team at the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT), discussed the possibilities of employing artificial intelligence in the documentation of heritage, such as document indexing, creating interactive applications, and using virtual reality to rebuild archaeological sites.

In addition, Prof. Hamdy Mahmoud, Coordinator of the Artificial Intelligence Program at Beni Suef National University, discussed artificial intelligence applications and cybersecurity, and how to benefit from them in the current reality. At the end of the session, Dr. Mohamed Hawas, Urban Designer and Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence Strategic Planner, highlighted a range of AI applications ranging from urban design to the medical field, arts, and facility management.
