The BA Inaugurates the 2nd Edition of the “Future Belongs to Africa” International Forum

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with Senghor University and the University Center for Career Development at Alexandria University, inaugurated the second round of “The Future Belongs to Africa” international forum, under the title “The Power of Education: Unlocking Career Opportunities for a Brighter Future.” The Forum is held from 19 to 21 February 2024, at the BA and Senghor University.

On behalf of Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, the Forum was inaugurated by Ms. Heba El Rafey, Acting Head of the BA External Relations and Protocol Sector.

Ms. El rafey said that the BA has always been a beacon of science and knowledge, and that this Forum comes as part of its efforts to improve education, develop skills, and empower young people. She also called on participants to exchange views and explore cooperation opportunities, with the aim of bridging the gap between higher education and the African labor market.

For his part, Dr. Said Allam, Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and Environmental Development, said that Alexandria University has two branches in Africa: one in Chad and another in South Sudan. He pointed out that the University offers nearly 100 postgraduate scholarships (Nile Basin Scholarships).

In addition, Dr. Thierry Verdel, Vice Chancellor of Senghor University, said that the University represents the French sector of the African continent, and that it offers its students topical training programs, in order to help them serve their country and the African continent as a whole.

It is worth noting that this round tackles the following topics: job seeking and the reshaping of the labor market, freelancing and remote jobs, and startups and turning job seekers into entrepreneurs and sustainable job creators.
