The BA Children and Young People's Libraries organized a Children’s Day celebration titled "Career Island", in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the BA Friends. The event took place on Thursday, 21 November 2024, in the BACC East and West Exhibition Halls and the Small Theater.

This year's celebration addressed children’s right to be protected against economic exploitation, in accordance with the 1989 United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The celebration included workshops that highlighted several important topics, including professions and jobs that children can undertake in the future, together with the necessary skills and abilities required in all professions.

Children from primary and preparatory schools in Alexandria took part in the celebration, which also welcomed refugee children through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and migrant children through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt.
