The BA Women Studies and Social Transformation Program, in collaboration with Misr El-Kheir Foundation, organizes a seminar entitled “Fatma… between Cinema and Reality” on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, in the Lecture Hall of the BA Conference Center.

The event will begin with opening speeches by Dr. Marwa El-Wakil, Head of the BA Academic Research Sector, and Dr. Hanan El-Derbashy, Head of the Debtors Sector at Misr El-Kheir Foundation, emphasizing the importance of art in raising awareness of social issues, particularly the issue of female debtors.

The event includes a screening of the film Fatma at 11:30 am, which tells a story inspired by the reality of female debtors and their suffering, and the support offered to them to reintegrate them into society.

Following the screening, a panel discussion will be held, entitled “Al-Gharemat (female debtors): Between Cinema and Reality,” which will explore the artistic and social aspects of the issue and how cinema can be used as an effective tool in serving social causes, particularly those related to marginalized women.
