In celebration of the second edition of the Geographic Awareness Week, the BA Map Services Unit is organizing a panel discussion and presentations entitled “Recent Innovations in Geographic Information Systems” on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, at 11:00 am, in the BACC Small Theater.

The event program consists of two parts and will be attended by a select group of professors, experts, specialists, and enthusiasts in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The first part will feature a panel discussion highlighting the latest technologies, tools, and applications in the GIS domain and their various uses through a presentation of the most important projects implemented by Egyptian specialists. The aim is to exchange experiences between academics, decision-makers, and professionals in the field, and to open an in-depth dialogue on the most prominent GIS applications.

The second part of the event will feature presentations by students from the faculties of engineering and arts, showcasing their distinctive projects that employ GIS. This part will provide a valuable opportunity for students and specialized professors to exchange views, thus contributing to the development and improvement of these projects, while connecting them to the actual needs of society.

The event will be accompanied by a display of books, maps, and atlases from the BA collection that highlight GIS uses and applications.
