The center aims at disseminating scientific knowledge through exhibitions and workshops to the public. The center serves as an educational facility targeting the population. In this context, the PSC organizes a series of weekly lectures on astronomy from 1 July to 1 September 2006. the lectures are entitled Journey to the Sun, each lecture is a journey of discovery to the sun, where the attendees study the nature of the sun, its characteristics, and the tools and devices through which SOHO (Solar & Heliospheric Observatory) examines the sun. The lecture also includes a presentation of incredible photos of the sun taken by SOHO. SOHO has been studying the sun for more than ten years, during which it has taken thousands of photos of the sun, and presented hundreds of new discoveries that changed our perception of the sun, the mother star, and the whole solar system. Ayman Ibrahim, PSC Astronomy Specialist, will give the lectures.
