Partial Lunar Eclipse

Alexandria—the BA Planetarium Science Center stated that on Thursday, 7 September 2006, Egypt will witness a partial lunar eclipse, which will also be visible in Africa, Asia, Australia and Eastern Europe.
The partial eclipse will begin at 18:05 UT (21:05 Egypt Summer Time) and will last over 1½ hours. The greatest eclipse will occur at 21:51 Egypt Summer Time. At that moment, the Earth"s shadow will darken a small portion of the Moon. The partial eclipse will be preceded by a penumbral eclipse at 16:42 UT, which is difficult to observe. Interestingly, the ancient Chinese believed that a hungry dragon devours the Moon during eclipses, thus beating drums to scare the dragon away from the moon!
