The Director of the BA Concludes the Intellectuals Parliament

Alexandria—the Intellectuals Parliament was concluded on Wednesday, 27 December 2006 at the BA. The second day started with presentations by Maestro Sherif Mohie Eldin, Director of the Art Center, Eng. Ayman El-Kholy, CULTNAT, and Dr. Mohamed Awad and Dr. Sahar Hamouda, Alex-Med on the activities and projects carried out by the different centers of the Library.
The sessions were concluded by an open discussion for questions, queries, and proposals.
Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA gave a speech, in which he thanked all intellectuals for their participation and proposals. He referred to the contribution of the BA to the cultural life in Egypt, as the BA presented 310 cultural events last year, and plans for 600 cultural events in the coming year; two to three events daily. He also stressed on the importance of media in promoting the BA activities and attracting the attention of the public to contemporary cultural issues. Finally, he emphasized that the BA exerts its utmost in developing international, Arab, and Egyptian thinking and awareness. He also referred to BA’s endeavors in promoting tourism, and to the expansion plans in Alexandria.
