Memorial Service Honoring Ambassador Taher Khlaifa at the BA

The BA held on Wednesday, 7 March 2007 a memorial service honoring Ambassador Taher Khalifa, Former Head of the BA External Relations Sector, attended by a group of his close friends as well as BA staff members.
The event started by a documentary featuring photos of late Ambassador Khalifa, followed by a musical piece by the BA Orchestra, composed by Maestro Sherif Mohie El-Din, Director, Arts Center, which he dedicated to Ambassador Taher Khalifa.
Dr. Sohair Wastawy, Head of the Library Sector, presented the memorial service. Ambassador Raouf Saad gave an address on behalf of HE Ahmed Abu El-Ghiet, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in which he expressed his deep sorrow on the loss of one of his sincere fellows. Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, spoke with feelings of affection and esteem about Ambassador Taher Khalifa.
Words then followed expressing feelings of love and sorrow by Ambassador Pnayptis Vlassopoulos, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Cairo, Ambassador Ali Maher, Director, Peace Studies Institute, Dr. Azza El-Kholy, Deputy Director, Peace Studies Institute, Dr. Mohamed Awad, Director, Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex-Med), Dr. Sohair Wastawy, Head of the Library Sector, Mr. Karim Hassan, Public Relations Department and Mrs. Mona El-Nashar, Deputy Director, Public Relations Department who expressed her feelings and also gave an address on behalf of Ambassador, Rouben Karapetian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia.
Maestro Sherif Mohie El-Din played Ambassador Taher Khalifa's Favorite piece of music. Mrs. Hoda Khalifa, Ambassador Taher Khalifa's wife, his brother, and son took the floor to express their feelings at the loss of Ambassador Khalifa. At the end of the memorial service, Dr. Ismail Seragedlin donated a book of remembrance to Ambassador Taher Khlaifa's family, issued by the BA as a small token of love and esteem to the late beloved Ambassador.
