The 29th Annual International Conference of the Egyptian Society of Cardiology (Cardio Alex 2002)

The Egyptian Society of Cardiology in collaboration with the Pan-Arab Society of Cardiology and the Pan-Arab Working Group of International Cardiology will held their International Conference on Cardiology from Monday 4th to Friday 8th February 2002, in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center, under the auspices of H.E. Mrs. Suzan Mubarak, Chair of the BA Board of Trustees. The conference will be the first medical conference to be held in Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The Honorary Conference Chairmen are:
Prof Dr. Isamil Sallam, Minister of Health and Population.
Prof Dr. Mofid Shehab, Minister of High Education.
General Mohamed Abdel Salam El Mahgoub, Alexandria Governor.
Prof Dr. M. Mohamed Nasr El Din Domeir, Chairman of Alexandria University.
Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina, will address the Opening Ibrahimian Lecture as a part of the Opening Ceremonies Monday 4th of February.
Many of Arab Health ministers were invited along with the medical attaches of Arab embassies. It is expected that more than 2000 cardiologists will attend or participate in this international event, including more than 300 Arab doctors from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan and other Arab countries. In addition to 60 other doctors from USA and Europe.
Egyptian professors of cardiology from all universities, National Institute of the Heart and the Military Medical Academy will also participate in the conference. European participants will be from the University of Toulouse, Paris, Reinnes (France), Milano (Italy), Hengelo (Netherland), London, Glasgow (UK) and Switzerland universities.
There will be direct satellite conferencing with many cardiology Centers in USA. Six doctors from Emery-Atlanta will participate in discussions around Diagnostics, Adjuncture Pharmacological Therapy and update in Brachy Therapy. Other six doctors from Mayo Clinic, Minnesota will share experience in cardiac resynchronization latest in interventional cardiology, strategies for heart failure, newer insights in severe valve regurgitation, prosthetic dysfunction. Others from Cleveland, Sarasota-Florida, Bloomfield-Connecticut, Duke University-North Carolina, and Pittsburgh, will debate other topics as genetic aspects, risk stratification, valvular lesions, cardiomyopathies and other state-of-the art modalities in cardiology.
The Organizing Committee identified the conference""s mission and vision as to serve the preeminent educational venue, showcasing the latest innovations and technological breakouts in all fields of cardiology.
This year""s conference will introduce online access to the Internet and direct search in the online medical database MEDLINE®. Providing such service will be an added value to the conference activities, as it permits the consultation of many up-to-date specialized journals.
