The Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosts the first international Youth Employment Summit

Under the co-chairmanship of H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina will host the first international Youth Employment Summit (YES2002) scheduled from the 7th until the 11th of September 2002.
The summit is considered the first to gather the main three parties, involved in youth employment; First: the youth (the target group), second: the representatives of the different governments, and third: the various institutions, authorities and associations concerned with the different youth employment issues. This gathering aims at establishing dialogue as well as setting workshops and running open discussions between the three different parties.
The summit shall witness the contribution of 150 different countries from all over the world, in addition to 1000 youth and 500 representatives from the various governmental bodies and institutions.
In an attempt to discuss the prevailing issues of the world""s youth, Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Chairman of the Summit Organizing Committee, said that the summit shall include a ministerial meeting attended by 40 different Ministers of Youth and Employment from all over the world. The meeting will be chaired by Dr. Aly El Din Helal, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports. It is expected that a number of eminent personalities will participate in the summit, including Mr. Kofi Annan, UN Secretary-General, and Dr. Monkombu S. Swaminathan, World Food Prize Laureate and member of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Board of Trustees.
