The BA Documents the Life of the Former Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority

Alexandria—As part of the “Memory of Modern Egypt” Project, the BA is currently working on documenting the life of Engineer Mashhour Ahmed Mashhour, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) from 1965 to 1983, and its Honorary President until his death in July 2008, aged 91.
Engineer Mohsen Mashhour, dedicated to the BA a collection of his father’s archive, including photo albums, documents, personal papers, certificates, and books covering the Suez Canal activities in different periods.
Engineer Mashhour was born in 1917, and graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Fouad I University (now Cairo University) in 1942. He joined the Armed Forces as an Engineer in 1943. After its nationalization, he worked as Department Director in the SCA and was later appointed as Chairman of Board of Directors according to decree number 3583 of 1965 from the President of the then United Arab Republic.
Mashhour was also given different medals and awards from Egypt and France.
