“D for Design”: Exhibition and Lecture

Alexandria—The BA Arts Center, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Egypt, is co-organizing an exhibition entitled “D for Design: An Exhibition Dedicated to Female Creativity in Design” that will go on from 14 May to 18 June 2009.
The official inauguration will be held on 18 May 2009, and it will be preceded by a Lecture also titled “D for Design”. Speakers will be Dr. Claudio Pacifico, Ambassador of Italy to Egypt; Professor Franco Porcelli, the Italian Scientific Attache; Architect Luisa Bocchietto, the Curator of the Exhibition; and Dr. Amr Abdel Kawi, Architect and the publisher of Magaz Magazine.
The Exhibition is a tribute to the work by women designers, artists, craftswomen, entrepreneurs, who have contributed to the creation of an “Italian appeal” in the manufacture and recognition of the “Made in Italy” in the world since the early 20th century to this date. Its aim is to focus the public’s attention on the continuous care that women dedicated to the development of culture in project design, not only in celebration of women’s contribution to design in the world, but also as a hymn to freedom and equal opportunity in creativity.
The Exhibition will take place at the BACC West Exhibitions Hall. The Lecture and the official inauguration will be held at the Lectures Hall at 12:00 noon.
