Alexandria- Today, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Radius of Arab American Writers (RAWI) are holding a program of reading from works by contemporary poets and authors. The program “Ripples of Reflection” serves to explain the theme running throughout the program of issues of identity, changes of culture and community that many individuals are faced with in modern society. The Arab/American writers include three originally from Egypt: Faiza Wahba Shereen, Samia Serageldin, and Pauline Kaldas, along with Lisa Suhair Majaj (Palestinian/American) and Dima Hilal (Lebanese/American). Jean Said Makdissy (Palestine/Lebanon), and Egyptian poet, Fatma Quandil, and award-winning Ibrahim Abdel Maguid are the other contributors.
Moderators of the four sessions include Amira Nowaira and Azza El Kholy, Professors of English, at Alexandria University; and Hoda El Sadda Chair of the “Women and Memory Forum”, and Nadia El Kholy from Cairo University.
AUC Press is holding a parallel exhibit of books during the program.
