Launching the Arabic Version of Pharos at the BA

The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex-Med), in cooperation with Goethe Institute, organizes a Book Launch of the Arabic version of Pharos: Ancient and Western Sources- Research in the History of Architecture, by Hermann Tiersch on Sunday, 13 December 2009.
The book is translated by Dr. Mervat Seif el Din and introduced by Dr. Mohamed Awad, Director of Alex-Med. The original German version was issued in 1909, and the launch of the Arabic version marks its centennial .
Hermann Tiersch (1874-1939) was a German Archaeologist and a Professor in the University of Tubigen. He participated in a series of archaeological expeditions to Alexandria and the rest of Egypt in the beginning of the twentieth century, resulting in a series of publications known as Expeditions of Ernst Von Sielgen.
The Book Launch is held at the BACC Small Theater at 7:00 pm.
