Ibn Khaldoun in Cairo Salon

Cairo Salon TV Show, presented by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, devotes an episode on the famous Arab Scholar Ibn Khaldoun, aired on Channel One on Friday, 25 June 2010, at 8:30 pm.


Serageldin hosts Mr. Sallam El-Kawakiby, Researcher in the fields of Political Science and Media, and Associate Researcher at the University of Amsterdam; and Dr. Said Bin Said El-Elwy, Professor of Higher Education, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Mohamed V, Rabat, Morocco.


The episode tackles the life and works of Ibn Khaldoun, an eminent Islamic Scholar who established the science of sociology, conceived the theories of social conflict, social cohesion - also translated as "group solidarity", or "tribalism”- and the rise and fall of empires.
