Serageldin Professor in Collège de France

The President of the Republic of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, issued a decree on 7 September 2010, appointing Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, Professor for the International Chair “Knowledge Against Poverty” for 12 months in Collège de France.
Serageldin will give an inaugural lecture on 18 November 2010, entitled “Mobilizing Knowledge to Eradicate Hunger”.
Established in 1530, Collège de France is a unique educational and research institution, which does not grant degrees nor follow official curricula. It offers researchers and university students high-level lectures, covering various areas of scientific, literary and art disciplines. It is also fully equipped with cutting-edge laboratories for research use.
