FameLab 2010 at the BA

For the second consecutive year, the BA hosts on Saturday, 18 December 2010 the FameLab Competition. Funded by the European Commission, FameLab is co-organized by the British Council and the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Program, affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Hundred participants take part in this competition from Alexandria and neighboring cities.
FameLab is an international science competition initiated in 2005 by the Cheltenham Science Festival and the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) in the UK. It is currently running in over 13 countries around the world with Egypt being the first country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to join last year.
The idea of the competition is to take science out of the classroom and make it fun, and to encourage young people, with a passion for science and technology , to share their enthusiasm and knowledge with the general public in an interesting and entertaining way.
To guarantee a geographical coverage of all governorates of Egypt, three competitions are held in Cairo, Alexandria and Asyut. The winner will represent Egypt in the FameLab International Competition that will be held in the UK in 2011.
