BA Receives New Collection of Research Papers from KIT

The BA has recently received another collection of research papers donated by the Royal Tropical Institute—Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen (KIT) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The donation includes the latest research papers on public and international health, which KIT sends to the BA each year as per the memorandum of understanding signed by both parties.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Information for Africa (BAIFA) is responsible for providing the electronic and digitized copies of the aforementioned research papers to researchers in Africa. The BAIFA website also offers said material to researchers and research centers across Africa along with a large number of e-resources on diverse themes, such as health, culture, knowledge transfer, decentralization and local governance, gender studies, and sustainable economic development. It also offers a series of free e-training programs and other programs in cooperation with Elsevier.
It is noteworthy that, as per the aforementioned memorandum of understanding, the majority of the KIT library collection was donated to the BA on 3 March 2014 and made accessible to the Library’s visitors. The collection comprises around 400,000 books and 20,000 journals, most of which are in English. Some of the collection’s publications are in German, French, and other languages. The collection covers a variety of fields and focuses on development issues in developing countries.
