"Cross-Cultural Encounters" Conference
Posted on
The BA holds on 18 and 19 May 2011 a conference entitled "Cross-Cultural Encounters" with the participation of specialists and academia from different countries, as well as representatives of several organizations.
The Conference tackles the concept of "Cross-Cultural Encounters" as a new concept attempting to study the relations between civilizations, and criticize dominant concepts in that regard, such as dialogue, conflict, clash, division, negation, marginalization, among others.
The Conference also aims at exploring how can we benefit from this concept on both the theoretical and practical levels. This is done through drawing past and present examples and human experiences from different fields including science, education, commerce, travel, war and peace, translation, diplomacy and others, especially amidst information and communication technology revolution and the change in power relations.
The Conference papers show how all these reflect on our present and future, vision of the world and the development of the world system from different perspectives.
