In cooperation with The UNESCO Chair — University of Nantes, the BA is organizing a conference called “The UNESCO Values the Use of Philosophy with Children: Learn to Think Through Picture Book Reading”. The conference is mainly targeted towards teachers, librarians, and the Francophone public in general, and will be hosted by Dr. Edwige Chirouter, chairholder and lecturer of The UNESCO Chair — University of Nantes.
The conference is going to be held on Sunday, 29 October at 10:00 am at the BA Conference Center, Multipurpose Hall.
The UNESCO Chair “Practice of Philosophy with Children: An Educative Basis for Intercultural Dialogue and Social Transformation” was created in September 2015 and sponsored by Michel Serres.
The UNESCO Chair on the practice of philosophy with children (from 4 to 18 years old) aims to develop citizen practices through research, training, the dissemination of pedagogical tools in schools, and the promotion of dialogue between actors and children worldwide.
It should be noted that The BA Francophone Network organized this event within the frame of its virtual Educ-Info program, which launched in September 2017 on its Facebook page and proposes a thematic file on education.
The BA Instructional Services Unit will organize training sessions for teachers and school librarians parallel to this event.
Registration is required on the day of the event. The conference will be given in French, and a simultaneous Arabic translation will be provided.
For those who cannot attend, the event will be broadcasted on the BA website and on the official Bibliotheca Alexandria Francophone Network Facebook page.
