Dr. Mostafa El Feki, Director of the BA, inaugurated the Nubian heritage seminar, organized by the BA General Collections and Services Department, in cooperation with the Public Nubian Club, on Wednesday, 2 May 2018. The event was held on 2–3 May 2018 at the BA, and it was attended by a number of Nubians and members of Nubian organizations in Alexandria.

Dr. El Feki asserted that Nubia is an integral part of Egypt, emphasizing the fact that Nubians have sacrificed numerous times throughout history to protect Egypt and its citizens. He added that Nubia has always been a part of our daily lives, as evidence states that Pharaonic civilization in Egypt and Sudan is essentially Nubian civilization.

Dr. El Feki noted that the BA celebrates Nubian Heritage Day on 2 May of each year. He also announced that the BA CULTNAT is working on a project dedicated to the documentation of Nubian heritage.

The two-day Nubian heritage celebrations, held on 2–3 May 2018, included various activities and events, such as an exhibition of Nubian handicrafts, musical performances of Nubian folklore, and a series of lectures on Nubian culture. The celebrations concluded on Thursday night with a concert featuring two of the most prominent contemporary Nubian singers, Hassan al-Saghir and Ahmed Ismail.
